Meet Dr. Papel

Dr. Ira D. Papel has been practicing medicine since 1987 and is board-certified in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery as well as Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery. Dr. Papel earned his B.A. from the Johns Hopkins University and his M.D. from Boston University of Medicine. He completed a residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Otolaryngology and a fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco in Facial Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Papel is considered an expert in rhinoplasty, revision rhinoplasty and facial aesthetic surgery. He has successfully combined plastic and reconstructive surgery to benefit his patients both functionally and aesthetically. Not only does he use his outstanding skills to help patients in the Baltimore area and beyond, but also he has served as a visiting professor at more than 30 universities both nationally and internationally. An Associate Professor at Johns Hopkins, Dr. Papel teaches medical students, fellows and residents in their surgical training. His textbook, Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 3rd Edition is the largest selling book worldwide in this specialty.

His active role in the facial plastic surgery community has kept him in tune with contemporary advancements to the benefit of his patients.
