Dysport® in Baltimore

Dr. Ira. D. Papel, Dr. Theda C. Kontis, and Dr. Emile N. Brown are skilled plastic and reconstructive surgeons in Baltimore, MD who dedicate their lives to improving the confidence and happiness of their patients through treatments such as Dysport®, which is injected into the skin above the eyebrows to temporarily relax the muscles that cause “frown lines”.

What Is Dysport®?

Dysport® is used to temporarily enhance the appearance of your reasonable to severe frown lines without altering the expression of your entire face. You will still be able to freely reveal facial expressions, such as smiling, in regions that are untreated. It is used to treat abnormal head position and neck pain caused by cervical dystonia, as well as used cosmetically to reduce the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines and forehead wrinkles in adults.

Benefits Of Dysport®

  • Very similar to Botox®
  • *Tends to work faster than Botox®, beginning in one to two days versus three to five
  • *Lasts longer, generally six months to a year as opposed to Botox®’s general half-life of three months

How Are Dysport® Injections Administered?

Before the injections are administered, the treatment area is disinfected using iodine and sterile cotton and gauze. Following this, the specific injection sites will be marked by the doctor, and a topical anesthesia can be applied to reduce any discomfort. The doctor will then use one injection in each of the five points between the eyebrows, or into frown lines on the side of the mouth based on your treatment plan.

Preparing For Dysport® Injections

Before your treatment with Dysport®, you should discuss with the doctor about your current health condition and previous medical history.

Dysport® Recovery

There is little to no recovery period from your Dysport® treatment. *You will want to avoid strenuous activity for about a day after your treatment, however. Dr. Papel, Dr. Kontis, or Dr. Brown will be able to give you more specific instructions depending on your individual procedure.

How Much Does Dysport® Cost?

The cost of  Dysport® is $400 per treatment site. The total cost varies depending on the extent of the treatment necessary to achieve the best results. The Facial Plastic Surgicenter accepts all major credit cards and Dr. Papel, Dr. Kontis, and Dr. Brown offer financing options to help their patients receive procedures without breaking their budget.
