What is “scarless” breast augmentation?
Breast implants can normally be placed through three different incisions. Patients can choose inframammary (in the fold under the breast), periareolar (around the nipple), or transaxillary (in the armpit). When the scar is located in the armpit, there are no visible scars on the breast. Therefore, we call this “scarless” breast augmentation.
Are natural results possible with an armpit incision? Absolutely!
You may hear other surgeons tell a patient her breast implants will be too “high” with an armpit incision. However, this is not true. In order to get an ideal result with transaxillary augmentation, the surgeon does need to use specialized equipment. This includes an endoscopic camera during the surgery, and is known as endoscopic transaxillary breast augmentation. Dr. Emile Brown is one of only a handful of surgeons to offer this specialized technique. Read more about Dr. Brown here.
