Our registered nurses provide the PicoSure™ technique to patients in Baltimore, Washington D.C., Annapolis, and the surrounding areas of Maryland.
There are many people who have had a tattoo in the past and now regret that decision. Now people seeking tattoo removal can turn to PicoSure™ for a safe and effective way to obtain smoother, clearer skin.
What is Laser Tatoo Removal?
Laser tattoo removal utilizes short laser pulses that target the ink in your tattoo, dispersing it into very tiny particles. This allows ink to be absorbed and expelled by the body more effectively than ever, allowing for fewer treatments in order to completely remove your tattoo.
Who is a Good Candidate for PicoSure®?
Because PicoSure® is an advanced procedure, more people than ever before can take advantage of it. You may benefit from PicoSure® even if you have unusual ink colors. You may also want to consider PicoSure® if you have previously had a tattoo removed via another method, but have color remnants remaining that you would like to completely get rid of.
Will Tattoos Completely Disappear?
That will depend upon a number of factors, such as the type and colors of ink and the size of your tattoo. We cannot guarantee your tattoo will completely disappear. However, we can assure you that the PicoSure® method has been proven highly effective at erasing tattoos and is often used to reduce remaining ink particles that linger after undergoing other removal methods.
Do All Colors Of Ink Disappear Equally as Well?
Black is the easiest color to remove, followed by brown, green and dark blue. As such, you should notice results much sooner if your tattoo primarily contains these colors.
On the other hand, red, orange, yellow and light blue are normally the most difficult to remove. PicoSure®’s 532 nm wavelength system carefully targets these stubborn shades through its Boost™ Adjustable Pressure System. We are often able to remove tattoos containing large amounts of red, orange, yellow or light blue ink when other removal methods have failed. Keep in mind that you could need more treatments in order to obtain the results you desire.
How is PicoSure® Performed?
PicoSure® uses ultra-short pulses of light, only a trillionth of a second in length. To begin, we will apply a numbing cream to the tattoo. Next, a special hand piece that delivers these ultra-short pulses of light will run over top of your skin. This portion of treatment is very quick, lasting only around a minute or so in most cases. All that’s needed after that is to apply an ointment and bandage to your skin to help speed healing.

What Type Of Post-Treatment Care Is Necessary?
Keep the bandage in place for at least 24 hours and avoid getting the area wet. There may be some light swelling and redness, but this is normal. Don’t pick at your lesion, but do keep it well moisturized and apply plenty of sunscreen before spending an extended amount of time outdoors.
How Much Does PicoSure® Cost?
The cost of the PicoSure® treatment for tattoo removal varies depending on tattoo, size of the treatment area and the number of treatments necessary. When you go for a consultation at our Baltimore office, you will be able to address these issues and discuss payment options with our patient coordinator. Facial Plastic Surgicenter offers its patients the option of financing.
