Board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Emile Brown offers a variety of mommy makeover options to patients in Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Annapolis and the surrounding areas of Maryland. Children can be a blessing, but for many women, they are left with bothersome changes to many areas of their body. With the mommy makeover, you can achieve your pre-baby body and confidence with a customizable set of procedures.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding can affect virtually the entire body, but especially the abdomen and breasts. With the mommy makeover, common concerns after pregnancy are addressed in one procedure. The procedure is actually a combination of several smaller procedures performed at the same time.
The breasts are highly affected by pregnancy and childbirth. Many women experience a loss in volume after having children and breastfeeding. With breast augmentation, this volume can be restored and the breasts can appear full and perky again.
Sagging is another concern caused by pregnancy and breastfeeding. A breast lift can reposition the breasts to their youthful, perky position. A lift is often combined with a breast augmentation or breast reduction.
The abdomen is another area highly affected, as it stretches to make room for the baby. Once the baby is born, excess skin can still be present and can be impossible to remove with diet and exercise alone. With the tummy tuck, the abdominal tissue is tightened and excess skin is removed.
Weight gain is important during pregnancy, but stubborn fat might linger long after childbirth. With liposuction, stubborn fat can be removed from the abdomen, thighs, flanks, upper arms, or in the bra area for recontouring.

Following pregnancy, having your body return to normal is easier said than done. If exercise and weight loss have not produced the effects you desire, now may be the time to consider a mommy makeover. Before having a mommy makeover, you should no longer be breastfeeding, and should not plan to become pregnant again in the near future. You should also be in reasonably good health, as most procedures do require some form of anesthesia.
Each mommy makeover is different. As such, we will not be able to discuss specifics until after we have come up with a personalized treatment plan. The procedure can include many smaller procedures at once, or you may choose to have your procedures in several different steps. The mommy makeover is typically performed under general anesthesia for your comfort. Your specific procedures will then be performed, the most common being some combination of the tummy tuck, breast augmentation, breast lift, and liposuction.
Your recovery after a mommy makeover will depend on the specific procedures you have done. Typically, patients can save time on recovery by choosing to have multiple procedures at once. You can expect swelling, bruising, and discomfort for the first 1-2 weeks following your procedure. Exercise can be gradually introduced after several weeks and increased once given the OK from Dr. Brown.
During your consultation at the Aesthetic Center at Woodholme, we will be glad to answer all of your questions, including those pertaining to specific techniques that might affect your cost. We will also help you determine the best method of payment based on your needs and budget. Many times, we are able to offer specials that help patients maximize their cosmetic procedure dollars. On other occasions, we may recommend financing through a major credit card or low-interest financing through CareCredit® or Prosper® Health Care Lending.
