Sculptra®

in Baltimore, MD

Dr. Papel, Dr. Kontis, and Dr. Brown provide Sculptra injections for patients in Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Annapolis and the surrounding areas of Maryland who are interested in looking younger but who would like natural, subtle results over time.

What is Sculptra®?

Sculptra® is an injectable dermal filler, used to add volume to facial lines and wrinkles as well as other facial features. Unlike other dermal fillers, Sculptra® from Dr. Papel, Dr. Kontis, and Dr. Brown is a natural and subtle injectable and one of the best options because it gives you gradual results over a series of treatments, and it will consistently and gradually give you great results even after your initial treatment. Sculptra® stimulates collagen production for results that can last several years. Your results from Sculptra® will not be immediately visible, but particularly for those patients who are having trouble with low collagen levels, you can see improvement for up to two years or longer as the structure of the skin is restored.

Benefits of Sculptra®

The impressive longevity of Sculptra® is one of its primary benefits. Although the formula is synthetic, it is safe to use and will slowly add volume to the areas of your face where volume has been lost. Due to its stimulation of your body’s own natural collagen formation, Sculptra® often outlasts many other injectables. Patients who choose Sculptra® may require two to three treatments to achieve their desired aesthetic results.

Sculptra® can improve the following signs of aging:

  •         Smile lines
  •         Marionette lines
  •         Chin wrinkles
  •         Flattened cheeks

Who is a Good Candidate for Sculptra®?

Candidates for Sculptra® are those who wish to add volume to their face with the production of their own natural collagen. This means results will not be instant but will continue over time and be long-lasting. Sculptra® offers an alternative to hyaluronic acid fillers and can provide youthful-looking skin that lasts. Not only can wrinkles be filled in by collagen, but the facial features can be subtly defined as well.

How is Sculptra® Treatment Performed?

Dr. Papel, Dr. Kontis, and Dr. Brown typically apply a topical anesthetic prior to the procedure to reduce any potential discomfort. Then they meticulously and precisely inject Sculptra® just underneath your skin. Depending on your specific needs and priorities, you might need more than one treatment to achieve your desired results. The injection process can take about 10-20 minutes to complete.

Results of Sculptra®

You should anticipate needing to recover from Sculptra treatment for about half a day following your procedure. This usually means that you need to take time off from school, work or running errands while you wait for any potential bruising and swelling to dissipate. You will be instructed to massage the areas where Sculptra® has been injected for five minutes, five times a day for five days.

The results of Sculptra® will take time to fully develop as the skin produces more collagen. This can take several months. Most patients see the full results of their treatment after about two to three sessions over the course of two to three months. After this time, patients can expect smoothed out wrinkles and folds and lifted cheeks, depending on where the formula was placed. These results will continue with time, lasting for about two years before a touch-up session is needed.
