Sculptra® in Baltimore

Dr. Papel, Dr. Kontis, and Dr. Brown provide Sculptra® injections for patients in Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Annapolis and the surrounding areas of Maryland who are interested in looking younger but who would like natural, subtle results over time.

What Is Sculptra®?

Unlike other dermal fillers, Sculptra® from Dr. Papel, Dr. Kontis, and Dr. Brown is a natural and subtle injectable and one of the best options because it gives you gradual results over a series of treatments and it will consistently and gradually give you great results even after your initial treatment. Sculptra® stimulates collagen production and results can last several years. Your results from Sculptra® will not be immediately visible, but particularly for those patients who are having trouble with low collagen levels, you can see improvement for up to two years or longer as the structures of the skin is restored.

Benefits of Sculptra®

The impressive longevity of Sculptra® is one of its primary benefits. Although the formula is synthetic, it is safe to use and will slowly add volume to the areas of your face where volume has been lost. Due to its thick but natural consistency, Sculptra® often outlasts many other injectables. Patients who choose Sculptra® may require two, three or more treatments to achieve their desired aesthetic results. It’s an excellent option to smooth away moderate to severe wrinkles or facial folds or to improve hollow temples and loss of facial volume that is commonly seen with aging.

How Is Sculptra® Administered?

Fine lines, deep wrinkles or sagging skin visible anywhere on your face can all benefit from Sculptra®. Dr. Papel, Dr. Kontis, and Dr. Brown typically apply a topical anesthetic prior to the procedure to reduce any potential discomfort. Then they meticulously and precisely inject Sculptra® just underneath your skin. Depending on your specific needs and priorities, you might need more than one treatment to achieve your desired results.

Preparing for Sculptra®

*Dr. Papel, Dr. Kontis, and Dr. Brown will emphasize to you that it is essential for you to stop using blood-thinning medications at least a few days prior to your treatment. This includes over-the-counter medicine, such as ibuprofen, which can be found in Advil and Motrin. Be sure to let Dr. Papel, Dr. Kontis, and Dr. Brown know if you have a prescription for medication that thins your blood. Although it is ideal to change or temporarily stop taking certain medications, Sculptra® may still be viable even if you cannot. Dr. Papel, Dr. Kontis, and Dr. Brown will discuss the possible effects if you have to continue taking your medication, in which case you may expect that any swelling or bruising you may have can tend to last just a little longer than usual. *Additionally, you should stop drinking alcohol for a few days prior to treatment because it also has a tendency to thin your blood.

Sculptra® Recovery

*You should anticipate needing to recover from Sculptra® treatment for about half a day, following your procedure. This usually means that you need to take time off from school, work or running errands while you wait for any potential bruising and swelling to dissipate. You may alleviate discomfort by applying a cold compress to any area of bruising or swelling to reduce discomfort. Begin taking over-the-counter medicines following the procedure as instructed by Dr. Papel, Dr. Kontis, and Dr. Brown. It is important that you stop using any cosmetics on or around the site of injection.

What is the Cost of a Sculptra ® Treatment?

The cost for Sculptra® is $700 per vial. The total cost varies depending on the extent of treatment necessary to help you achieve optimum results. Dr. Papel, Dr. Kontis, and Dr. Brown accepts all major credit cards, and also offer convenient financing options to their patients.
