Voluma™ in Baltimore

Voluma™ is an FDA-approved injectable gel being offered by our Baltimore facial plastic and reconstructive surgeons Dr. Ira D. Papel, Dr. Theda C. Kontis, and Dr. Emile N. Brown to smooth aging lines and add volume to the cheek area.

Voluma™ is a form of injectable filler that contains sterilized hyaluronic acid. It is designed to reduce wrinkles and folds on the face of mature adults near their nose or between their eyes. With approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, patients can feel safe having this substance injected under their skin tissue by a qualified and experienced plastic surgeon.

Benefits of Voluma™

Patients like the benefits from Voluma™ because hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that everyone one has in their body but is often manufactured less as people age. Benefits include:

  • Provide a more youthful appearance
  • Long lasting results
  • Gives more volume and rejuvenated skin

How is Voluma™ Administered?

The surgeons at Facial Plastic Surgicenter have syringes filled with sterilized Voluma™ in a temperature controlled environment. The patient’s skin is cleaned before the injection with an alcohol pad to destroy bacteria. A thin needle is inserted into the patient’s wrinkle or fold to inject the dermal filler.

Preparing for Voluma™ Treatment

Surgeons recommend not drinking alcoholic beverages and avoid taking Aspirin before the procedure. Patients should expect to need a small amount of recovery time before they resume their daily activities.

Voluma™ Recovery

Voluma™ procedures are noninvasive and in some cases, surgeons use cannulas to inject Voluma™ into hollows of the facial cheeks to optimize the results.  All tenderness in a patient’s facial skin should subside within a short period.

How Much Does Voluma™ Cost?

The cost of  Voluma™ is $850 per 1cc syringe. The total cost will vary depending on the extent of treatment necessary to achieve optimum results. Filling small wrinkles on the face costs less while deep hollows or folds require more of the hyaluronic substance. Fortunately, Facial Plastic Surgicenter offers dermal filler specials occasionally along with affordable financing options.

Is Voluma™ Right for Me?

If your appearance is being affected by hollow cheeks and thin, stretched facial skin, the Voluma™ may be right for you.

What to Expect During a Voluma™ Consultation

Patients receive personalized attention during consultations from surgeons and office staff while their medical history is collected. A careful evaluation of a patient’s facial anatomy is required to understand the course of treatment to reduce a patient’s folds and wrinkles, ensuring lasting results.

Dr. Papel, Dr. Kontis, and Dr. Brown have performed many successful Voluma™ treatments on patients from Baltimore, Washington D.C., Annapolis, and the surrounding areas of Maryland and would love a chance to discuss procedural options with you!
